LEIGH RMI manager Steve Waywell has won the race for the signature of centre forward Damien Whitehead, formerly with Macclesfield.
Several clubs have shown a keen interest in the exciting, young prospect, but the goalscoring forward will be leading the line for RMI next season.
Damien confirmed he is delighted to have joined RMI following discussions with Waywell and other backroom personnel at Hilton Park.
Manager Waywell sees it as a major coup for RMI, and confidently expects Damien to be a success in the Nationwide Conference.
"It is a tremendous confidence booster for everyone at Hilton Park, and should give every encouragement to supporters, emphasising there is no lack of ambition at the club," said secretary Alan Robinson.
