A NELSON woman is hoping to raise money for Hospice Care for Burnley and Pendle by organising a walk across Morecambe Bay.
Sheila Riley, of Kelswick Drive, has long wanted to walk across Morecambe Bay but, like many others, was not sure about the safest way of so doing.
Last year she decided to fulfil her dream and contacted Cedric Robinson, the Queen's official guide.
She then organised the walk for April 2001 but it had to be cancelled due to the effects of foot and mouth in the Lake District and Morecambe Bay area.
Sheila, who is a Friends of Pendleside volunteer, has now re-arranged it for Sunday, September 29, and is hoping people will join her on the sponsored walk.
Transport to and from the Reedley-based Hospice will cost £10 but walkers being sponsored to raise money for the hospice will be able to travel for free. Anyone interested in joining Sheila should call the fundraising office at Pendleside Hospice on 01282 440100 for an information pack.
