PHILIP Walsh has been co-opted on to the parish council to fill a vacancy.
Chairman Coun Tony Lambert, said "We are very fortunate to have attracted someone with the experience of Philip.
"I am sure he will make a significant contribution to the village in this new role."
THE parochial church council is seeking permission to hang the Burma Star flag over the choir vestry door.
A quiz night and supper will be held by the church on October 19 at 7.30pm. The harvest supper will take place on the October5 and the Christmas fair will be held on November 30.
ST JOHN'S Sunday School is to say goodbye to two valued helpers.
Beverley Clarke is leaving the area, and Sarah Aves is off to University. Sunday school will resume on the August 18.
Volunteers to help in Sunday school would be more than welcome.
THE Mother's Union will resume their meetings in September.
The arts and crafts fair takes place from Saturday, August 3, to Sunday, August 11, and the diocesan fun day will be held at Grimsargh on August 31. All gifts for the children's tombola should be handed in by the end of July.
POSTERS and car stickers advertising the arts and crafts fair are available in the lounge.
Raffle tickets are now available.
The proceeds from the raffle will this year go towards improvements in fire safety throught the church building. Anyone who can be a steward over the week should contact B Wharton on 427964.
THE 48th and 56th Rainbow units will resume their meetings on Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 August.
THE 56th Brownies will meet again after the summer break on August 21.
THE bellringers would like to thank everyone who donated items to be sold at the auction in May. A total of £529.80 was made from the event.
FRIENDS of Worsthorne with Hurstwood are still seeking additional help for the annual village carnival. Call Bob Mallett on 838014 if you are able to help on August 24 between lunchtime and teatime.
