LITTLE Dylan Allcock's prize-winning poetry has put him on track for an exciting train journey.
Train and bus enthusiast Dylan, six, from Knuzden, has won a children's poetry competition organised by Arriva Trains Northern, and will ride 'up front' with a driver.
This prize inspired Dylan to put pen to paper and write about his visits to rail museums and watching the trains which pass his home.
Dylan, who attends St Oswald's School in Knuzden, said: "I can't wait to sit in the front of the train and talk to the driver about what he does. I have already told my friends at school about what I'll be doing."
Arriva is organising Dylan's journey to take place in the summer holidays. He was also presented with a poster-size version of his poem and an Arriva goodie bag.
Commercial director Dyan Crowther said Arriva had received a huge number of entries and the standard of writing was very high.
She added: "Dylan's poem showed real enthusiasm for trains and it was obvious that he had put a lot of thought in creating something based on his own experience. His parents and school should be proud of his achievement."
