POLICE are warning pensioners to be on their guard after a conman targeted a 94-year-old woman.
The thief persuaded the woman of Princess Street in Whalley who is hard of hearing, house bound and partially sighted to hand over a pension book.
The man struck on Monday afternoon pretending to be there from the social services to help with house work.
A spokesman for Clitheroe police said today: "This is a particularly despicable attack as the assailant has targeted someone who is very vulnerable.
The woman was unable to give a description of the conman.
