A LOCAL charity that relocates furniture from landfill sites to needy causes has been given a cash boost.
Colne-based Open Door Furniture Recycling specialise in re-directing furniture which is no longer needed to disadvantaged homes.
And the charity has received nearly £9,000 from the Co-operative Foundation to help fuel their vehicles used for transporting furniture and to buy office equipment.
Organiser Mark Clegg said: "We just take what richer people do not want any more, usually in the shape of furniture, sofas, washing machines and dryers, and give them to people who really need them.
"Since last summer we relocated about 3,000 items of furniture to around 500 places in Pendle."
The charity received the cheque from the Co-op in Market Street Colne.
