WE'RE now approaching the height of summer and many sunseekers will be jetting abroad to hotter climes now the school holidays are almost here.
But how many of us drink enough water, especially while we are soaking up the sun on the beach or sight-seeing in the heat of the day?
Bottled spring water supplier Strathmore has discovered only one in 10 people drink the recommended amount of eight glasses of water a day. It has produced its top five hydration tips for summer:
Feeling thirsty means you are already dehydrated, so take sips every hour to top up your water levels.
During hot weather or while on holiday, remember to increase your water intake by half a litre.
A good rule of thumb is to drink three glasses of water for every hour spent exercising, especially when the weather is hot.
Hunger pangs are often a sign of thirst. Drink water to reduce your appetite and achieve a better body!
Wear light, breathable clothes to reduce water loss.
