WHIZPOP along to Blackpool Opera House this July and catch one of Roald Dahl's most endearing characters live on stage.
His popular children's book The BFG -- that's Big Friendly Giant -- is celebrating 20 years of print this year.
And children's playwright David Wood has brought the family favourite to life in a "delightful adaptation full of fantastic nasties".
Sophie gets a copy of her favourite book, The BFG, at her birthday party from her brother. Then, when her parents announce the conjuror booked for the party can't come, Sophie suggests everyone should act out the book as their entertainment instead.
Sophie narrates the story which tells of an orphan called Sophie who is kidnapped by the BFG in the middle of the night.
He takes her off to Giant Country and shows her how he catches dreams to blow onto sleeping children with his special long trumpet. He also eats snozzcumbers and drinks frobscottle which has bubbles that go down instead of up resulting in embarrassing "whizpoppers"!
But the BFG has some nasty neighbours called the Fleshlumpeater, the Bloodbottler and the Bonecruncher who go off each night to different countries to eat "human beans" so Sophie and the BFG hatch a plan to ask the Queen of England for help.
The BFG runs at Blackpool Opera House from July 9-15 with performances at 2.30pm and 7pm. Call Blackpool Live on (01253) 292029 for tickets at £13 adults and £7.50 children.
