WHAT a difference a day makes!
That's the verdict from grateful employees of a Pilsworth-based company after their kind-hearted boss decided to cut the length of their working week.
And the move by Century Seal managing director Rob Foy co-incided with the celebration of the thriving firm's tenth anniversary.
The company, based at Park 66, has just opened a new conservatory village. Century Seal is involved in the design, manufacture and installation of conservatories.
Now, thanks to Rob's generosity, the workforce has every reason for a double celebration.
To commemorate Century Seal's decade of triumph, and to show his gratitude to his staff, Rob has devised a novel approach to staff relations.
He has introduced a four-day working week for five days pay to all long serving employees. And he has also shortened the sales and marketing forces' six day working week to five.
Rob says: "All my staff work hard, are well motivated and do an excellent job. But I realise that there is more to life than just working and I believe that if you look after your staff, they will look after you."
The forward thinking company is poised for yet another record-breaking year. Rob attributes the success to three major contributions.
Firstly, his belief in providing an excellent customer aftercare service, allied to providing a quality product at an affordable price. Thirdly, and most importantly says Rob, is the necessity of having a dedicated and committed workforce.
Rob began his career as a door-to-door salesman and very quickly became involved in the double glazing industry, rapidly advancing to the position of national sales manager in a 1980s window company.
Jack Simmons, chairman of Lancashire Cricket Club, which had contracted Century Seal to carry out improvements at its Old Trafford ground, opened the Pilsworth company's new conservatory village.
