AFTER successfully campaigning for several litter bins some years ago in the Longridge Road, Gamull Lane area, I found that they were being well used but not emptied on a regular basis.
A lady from Preston Borough Council's cleansing department said someone would be round to empty the bin, now overflowing. No one came, so in the evening I rang a councillor for the ward, also the cabinet member for that department, who assured me something would be done.
The following evening it was still overflowing and it was three days since I first complained before it was finally emptied.
What's the point of educating our young people to be litter conscious if the bins are overflowing?
