PENDLE'S answer to Linford Christie and Rory Underwood have had a triumphant time at this year's Lancashire Youth Games.
The year six rugby team from Sacred Heart Primary School, Colne and the Pendle Swimming Disability Team came away champions with gold medals in their categories.
Lancashire's biggest youth sport event took place at Salt Ayre Sports Centre, in Lancaster, on June 29.
Pendle Leisure Trust Sports Development Manager Suzanne Hodgson, said: "All the squads did us proud at the Youth Games. Anyone who got past the trials and competed deserves a pat on the back.
"All the competitors did extremely well and it was a great achievement for everyone."
More than 1,500 young people from across Lancashire to compete in athletics, rugby union, swimming, girls football, boccia and cricket.
The multi-sports event also included integrated and individual events for young disabled athletes in swimming, wheelchair basketball, boccia and rugby union.
Sports Commentator and Chair of Sport England Trevor Brooking, said of the games: "They are now very well established and provide a really enjoyable and competitive outlet for our young sportsmen and women.
"The Lancashire Youth Games have given the youngsters a real opportunity to showcase their skills and represent their local area."
