TWO wrestlers from Leigh have been included in a seven-strong Team England wrestling squad that is hoping for Commonwealth Games medal success.
The squad includes medallists at Victoria 1994, the last Games to feature the sport including
John Melling, aged 32, from Leigh Wrestling Club, who won a silver medal.
England has only won four wrestling golds at the Commonwealth Games - the last was in 1986.
Paul Stridgeon, aged 22, of Wigan/Aspull Olympic is also in the squad.
Wrestling takes place at the G-MEX Centre from August 2 to 4.
