ON THE day temperatures soared, part of flood-plagued East Lancashire was under water again.
A burst water main in the road outside the Postal Order, Darwen Street, hindered traffic battling through Blackburn town centre.
Work was being carried out to improve the drainage in the main street.
But workers hit an unstable water mains at 10am which sent water cascading down Darwen Street and Jubilee Street.
One worker, who declined to be named, said: "We deliberately directed the water on to the streets to avoid any buildings or cellars being flooded.
"The water was cleared after about 20 minutes because we managed to turn the supply off."
Flash floods that swept through East Lancashire last month caused more than £10million of damage to business and industry.
