ROVERS' Academy are celebrating lifting their first trophy of the new season after winning the Foyle Cup in Ireland.
The team, run by Academy coach Steve Nickson, won the Under 14 tournament after beating Shelbourne Red Devils 4-1 on penalties in the final.
Giant goalkeeper Zak Jones was the hero for Rovers in the shoot-out, saving two penalties and then converting one himself, after the two teams had earlier fought out a goalless draw.
Rovers had qualified for the knockout stages after chalking up impressive victories over East End (1-0), Inishowen (6-0) and Kilmarnock (3-0) in the group stages.
After that, they then beat Lisburn Youth 3-0 in the last eight before qualifying for the final courtesy of a penalty shoot-out victory over Nottingham Forest after their semi-final had finished goalless.
