STORIES in the national Press suggesting Rovers have been in touch with Coventry about a possible swap deal for David Thompson have also been flatly denied.
As we revealed earlier in the summer, Thompson remains a transfer target for manager Graeme Souness.
But the Rovers boss currently has more pressing priorities to attend to and no deal is likely to be done until Damien Duff's future is sorted out.
Rovers plan to resume contract talks with Duff later this week when the Republic of Ireland international returns for pre-season training.
The 23-year-old has been given an extra week's holiday following his exertions in the World Cup.
And, although he returned briefly to England last week following a well-earned break in Spain, he has taken a few more days off to recharge his batteries before he decides where his future lies.
