THE transparency of giving Gibraltarians the, to quote Jack Straw, "chance to have dual British/Spanish nationality" is the precursor to giving them "no chance" at all.
If the plans confer as quoted, "greater freedom," it will be the freedom for Spain to get their feet under the table and their hands on the throats of Gibraltar's lifelines.
The end game is as clear as a bell and it ill becomes the Government to dress it up as anything other than a betrayal of British citizens.
It's a 'Falklands' in reverse. The difference is that the seas around the Falklands are economically rich.
The Government knows full well what the Gibraltarians want and that is to stay British. Compare that with the current situation on immigration and the Spanish 'failure' to regulate its piratical fishing industry and the whole situation stinks to high heaven.
D PRATT (Mr), Plantation Street, Accrington.
