THE magic of 1930s Hollywood sparkles in this glittering stage adaptation of MGM's classic Singin' in the Rain.
With brutal honesty and hilarious results, the award-winning production (directed by Jude Kelly) follows the story of film stars Don Lockwood (Darren Bennett) and Lina Lamont (Jacqui Rae) as they experience the ups and downs of starring in the first ever on-screen Hollywood musical.
Just as Gene Kelly famously made the original film a roaring success, the stars of this production excel in every aspect. The meticulously choreographed dance routines are performed to perfection, the singing raises the roof and the acting combines the two to create a seamless and highly entertaining show for people of all ages.
With clever use of pre-recorded extracts shown on big-screen back-drops, special effects including an incredibly realistic rain scene and a selection of smash hit songs, Singin' in the Rain provides audiences with a spectacular image of a golden era that will never be forgotten.
A word of warning -- those on the front rows watch out for the showers!
Singin' in the Rain runs at Manchester's Opera House until Saturday. For tickets and details call the box office on 0161 242 2509.
