A CONTEMPORARY dance extravaganza is expected to entertain hundreds in Lowton today. (Thursday)
Dancers of all abilities -- from total novice to strictly ballroom -- drawn from high schools across Leigh and Wigan will perform in a circus themed dance spectacular at the Civic Hall at 6pm.
About 75 pupils from St Thomas More, Hesketh Fletcher, Bedford, St Mary's RC, Abraham Guest, Golborne, Fred Longworth and Lowton high schools are involved.
For the last three days the youngsters have been working against the clock with the north west-based Stark Dance Company at the Wigan Dance Summer School with intensive sessions taking place at Golborne High School.
Jennifer Hatton, of Wigan Council's Arts Advisory & Support Service said: "Young people of all ages from 11 upwards have come forward and said 'we want join the circus'. They are a talented bunch, they've worked very hard, the choreographers are excellent and, although the schedule is tight, I'm sure they can pull it off."
Anyone interested in tickets for the show can call Jennifer on 01942 254280.
