A DESPERATE last wicket stand by Leyland prevented it being three out of three defeats for the local sides on Saturday.
Leyland were 83 runs short of reaching Kendal's total of 263 but did damage to hang on to salvage four points.
Kendal professional Kabir Khan top scored for the visitors with 80 closely followed by Terry Hunte with 79.
Ellwood was the pick of the bowlers for Kendal finishing with an impressive seven wickets for 71.
Preston were beaten by six wickets at Netherfield after posting a target of 153.
Clemson and South African professional Pieter Strydom did the damage with the ball for Netherfield with figures of 4 for 20 and 4 for 41 respectively.
Motors were well beaten at Morecambe being dismissed for just 53 in chase of a target of 214 for 2 declared. Leading scorers for the home side were Dennison with 97 and Woodhead on 85.
