SOME towns attract smart wine bars and pavement cafes, some are swamped with trendy clothes shops and shoe stores.
Haslingden has takeaways. Takeaways are to this small East Lancashire hamlet as seafood stalls and amusement arcades are to Blackpool.
Capanna can claim to be among the first of the new breed opening, as it did, before many in Blackburn Road. The menu features a good selection of takeaway food, including pizzas, jacket potatoes, burgers and kebabs while the shop includes a number of tables which allows you to eat in and has established it as a firm favourite with pubgoers.

For our late-night goody bag we ordered a large mixed grill kebab with chicken, salad and garlic sauce, a donner with salad and garlic sauce and the customary accompanying portion of chips.
What we got unfortunately was not the same. Salad was sparse on one and missing on the other. Not a huge complaint but not the right order all the same and at £8.80 altogether it was a little on the pricey side in the first place.
In their defence the food was hot and tasty and there was a good amount of sauce on each but the sour taste of missing salad tainted the dish.
