A METROLINK user was robbed and another was attacked in separate incidents over the weekend.
The first assault took place shortly before 9pm on Friday (July 12) at the Besses o'th Barn station in Whitefield.
A 45-year-old commuter was approached by three teenagers and was punched in the face before they tried to steal his mobile phone.
The victim managed to fight off his attackers, who fled the station.
Two of three teenagers, who are all white, are said to be aged 15 and the other aged 18.
One had short hair and was wearing sunglasses, jeans and a dark fleece top.
His accomplices both wore baseball caps.
In the second incident, a 17-year-old was attacked by two teenagers, aged about 18, as he waited on the platform of Prestwich station at 1.20am on Sunday (July 14).
The thieves escaped with the teenager's £200 mobile phone and a £50 coat.
Police are currently viewing CCTV footage to try and identify the offenders in both attacks.

An 18-year-old boy was punched in the face and robbed of his £100 mobile phone during a robbery at Bury Interchange bus terminal at 7.55pm on Sunday.
The victim was approached by a white male and asked for a cigarette before he was assaulted and then searched by the offender. The teenager suffered a black eye.
It is believed the attacker was in the company of two girls. Witnesses should contact Bury CID on 856 8150.
