Clarets boss Stan Ternent is taking a squad of 21 players to the Isle of Man for the annual Steam Packet Football Festival at the weekend giving a couple of players a chance to impress.
Keeper Marlon Beresford and defender Marlon Broomes are both hoping to force their way into Ternent's plans for next season as they join the rest of the squad on the trip.
"Every year we have a look at a couple of players out there," explained Ternent this morning. "The two Marlons have been training with us and we will have another look at them."
One player who will not be going is young French defender Sylvain Meslien who is another to have been down at Gawthorpe during pre season and it remains to be seen whether Ternent will follow up his interest in the Saint Etienne defender.
On the trip will be right back Dean West who has still not put pen to paper on a new deal having been out of contract since the end of last month.
The trio of players who have had operations in the summer, Robbie Blake, Ian Moore and Paul Weller will also be going and the club physio Ian Liversidge is delighted that all the players are fit enough to travel.
He said: "We are going to the Isle of Man and everyone looks good. The fitness levels of the players are high and they did well in the game we had against Oldham earlier in the week."
The Clarets face Wrexham on Sunday and then Luton on Tuesday and Ternent is also delighted that all of his first team squad is ready to travel.
They will leave Burnley after taking part in the club's annual open day tomorrow before starting their campaign against the Welsh side on Sunday afternoon.
Tomorrow will see them take part in a full training session at about 1pm giving the fans the chance to see their favourites put through their paces.
The full list of players going to the Isle of Man is: Nik Michopoulos, Dean West, Steve Davis, Gordon Armstrong, Glen Little, Paul Cook, Gareth Taylor, Andy Payton, Tony Grant, Ian Cox, Graham Branch, Ian Moore, Brad Maylett, Lee Briscoe, Mark McGregor, Arthur Gnohere, Robbie Blake, Alan Moor, Dimitri Papadopoulos, Marlon Beresford, Marlon Broomes.
