HUDDERSFIELD Town's first team is expected to be on display at Giant Axe on Saturday in City's first pre-season friendly.

Town's new boss Mick Wadsworth claims a strong side will line up at Lancaster as the former Oldham and Carlisle boss weighs up his new players.

Meanwhile, Morecambe await the visit of Wigan Athletic next Wednesday as they continue their build up against football league clubs.

Wolves were the first visitors to Christie Park on Saturday and the Midlands side went away with their tails between their legs as the Shrimps deservedly claimed a draw.

Manager Dave Jones had put out a virtually full-strength line-up, featuring highly rated central defender Joleon Lescott, prolific striker Dean Sturridge and new signing Ivar Ingimarson.

And the visitors raced into a 2-0 half time lead against a Morecambe side who played a new formation with three centre-halves, to accommodate recent signings Jim Bentley and Iain Swan.

Scottish international Colin Cameron turned in a cross from £1 million winger Kevin Cooper inside 10 minutes.

The influential Cooper also created a second for Sturridge shortly before the break.

However, Morecambe were not to be denied and Ryan-Zico Black scored on 57 minutes before debutant Bentley equalised on the hour mark with a powerful header.

The Shrimps looked set for an impressive victory on 72 minutes when Bentley scored a similar headed goal but substitute Jones eventually grabbed a Wolves equaliser late in the game.

Tuesday night's game at Christie Park ended with a 3-0 victory for Jim Harvey's old club Tranmere Rovers.

Lancaster, meanwhile, start their season by renewing acquaintances with Blyth Spartans at the Axe on August 17.

That is followed by journeys to Burscough (Tuesday, August 20) and Frickley the following Saturday.

The traditional games against Barrow take place on Boxing Day and New Year's Day while a home game against the newly re-named Wakefield and Emley ends the season on May 3.
