A MORECAMBE woman has warned residents in the Sandylands area to be on the look out for an opportunist thief after she was burgled in broad daylight while her children played in the garden.
The woman, who asked not to be named, tackled the thief as he brazenly left her property.
He claimed to be visiting a friend living on the top floor of the building.
He made off and when the mother checked her belongings her purse had been stolen.
"I was sat in the garden with my children eating fish and chips and he must have sneaked in," she said.
"It didn't bother him that we were there and he stole my purse containing all the money I had for that week."
The thief is described as 5ft 5in tall, with short, black hair, aged 28 to 30.
He spoke with a strong Scottish accent and was wearing a black leather jacket, white T-shirt, combat trousers and baseball cap.
