AS another football season draws closer, and the future of Bury Football Club looks more stable than it did six months ago, I would like to congratulate my fellow Shakers fans, and football fans all over the country, who helped raise thousands of pounds for the "Save Our Shakers" fund.
As our co-chairmen, Messrs Smith and Mason, discuss ways to attract more people through the turnstiles, may I suggest that they take the short walk through the Gigg Lane corridors to the home dressing room. There they could explain to the manager and the players exactly what the fans have done during the summer months, with sacrifice, passion and downright hard work, to save our beloved club and possibly their professional careers!
The collapse of the ITV Digital deal was well documented during the summer and Bury are not alone among Nationwide League clubs in their plight, so this can no longer be an excuse for the manager and players to hide behind. The only thing which will get the people through the turnstiles at Gigg Lane is a hard-working, passionate, winning football team.
The fans have done their bit, now for the players. It is over to you lads!
