HOW I agree with your recent letter writers "V-Shaped Badge" and Paul Mather.
The row over the Bury FC badge is typical of dinosaurs such as "Salford Shaker", traditionalists stuck in the past. Who cares if Bury won the FA Cup way back in 1900 and something? I don't, that is ancient history. All that should matter to fans is whether the club has a future.
Had it not been for Manchester United constantly dipping into their pockets, the club would have folded years ago. As a Manchester United fan first and Bury fan second, I have no problem following both clubs and it is good to know that some Bury fans appreciate our efforts.
Perhaps if "Salford Shaker" and the rest of the traditionalist lobby were to put down their quills and parchment and invest in a keyboard to enter the 21st century, then Bury FC could move forward. If they were to go on the official website, or to the Y3K website, they may hear the views of more enlightened fans.
Without a major investor the club will die, unless it becomes a feeder club for Manchester United. Gone would be all the money worries. Both clubs would benefit from the arrangement; United in the form of access to a competitive league in which to blood its younger players, and Bury by the use of the Manchester United logo and club colours and access to its vast corporate experience.
The traditionalists may not like it, but what is the alternative, no club? Bury fans need to accept reality. The future is bright, the future is red and white.
UNITED AND BURY FAN
