It's that time of year again! The Bury and District Golf Association's Ladies Championship swings into Harwood Golf Club this year and the coveted trophy is really up for grabs following the retirement of twelve-times winner Sue Warrington.
Sue decided to call it a day after 25 years of competing and immediately tipped her rival Andrea Holt to win the title, something Sue is standing by a year on: "Rita Towler is a good player and on her own course but I think Andrea is the best all-round player in the tournament and she should win if she gets her game right.
Holt agree: "I haven't been playing well but if I get my game together I should do well and hopefully I can go one better than last year when I lost in the final to Sue. However, I think Bev Scholes is a dangerous player when she gets things right.
"It was disappointing to lose last year but I'm looking forward to putting that behind me and once you get through to the Matchplay, you have a chance. The tournament is very open this year with many players not competing for one reason or another, hopefully I can take advantage of that."
The first tee-off on Saturday is at 1.30pm, with the final being played on Wednesday evening at 5.15pm. It promises to be a cracker!
