NEW owners have taken over the running of the Longfield Centre in Prestwich.
A company named Crestwave Investment Ltd, believed to be based in Higher Broughton, have purchased the precinct from Edinburgh Home Estates, in London.
The shopping precinct, which has endured a long history of neglect, was previously owned by Bourne End/Spear Estates.
Several months ago, Bury South MP Ivan Lewis laid down a challenge to Edinburgh Home Estates to take action on sprucing up the shop units or pass on the responsibility to a company who could.
As reported in the Bury Times, the rest of Prestwich is being developed by Bury Council as part of the Village Strategy after it agreed to plough back the money received in rental income from the Longfield Centre.
