MANGER of the Seychelles Commonwealth Games team Mr James Barreau escaped injury in a motorway pile-up in Bury on Saturday (Aug 3).
Mr Barreau, on his way to the Commonwealth village, was a passenger in a Games courtesy car when it was involved in a collision on the M66 at Bury.
The Rover 75 was being driven by a 49-year-old man from West Didsbury who had to be cut free from the wrecked car by firefighters and later received treatment at Fairfield General Hospital for minor chest injuries.
Three cars and a motorbike were involved in the accident shortly after the slip road junction leading from Heap Bridge onto the M66 towards Pilsworth.
The vehicles were a Citroen, the Games Rover and another Rover car. The Honda motorbike was being ridden by a 22-year-old man from Tottington.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident which happened at 1.25pm.
