TEN things you didn't know about Lazio.
1. Lazio were originally created as a track and field club and their first competitive event was the 20km walk!
2. Club founder Officer Bigiarelli drew inspiration from the Olympic Games and chose the sky blue and white of Greece as the club's colours.
3. Lazio won their first Scudetto in the season 1973-74 in the Tomas Maestrelli era.
4. They were almost relegated in 1980 after being implicated in the notorious Totoscommese bribery scandal.
5. In 1987, they were only saved from dropping down to Serie C1 by beating village side Campobasso 1-0 in a play-off.
6. Lazio won the last-ever European Cup Winners Cup.
7. In the 1998-99 season Lazio looked set to complete a memorable double after taking the Cup Winners Cup and leading the league. However, on the final day AC Milan took the Scudetto by a single point after a dramatic dip in the Rome club's form.
8. Hernan Crespo became the most expensive player in the world when he joined in a £36 million deal involving £12 million cash and two players from Parma.
9. Sven Goran Eriksson decided to join Lazio instead of Rovers after the Ewood club had targeted him as their next manager following the departure of Ray Harford.
10. When Paul Gascoigne played for Lazio he was once asked for a footballing comment and then promptly burped enthusiastically into a TV microphone. He was subsequently fined £39,000.
