PRESTON and District Referees Society is holding a recruitment session on Sunday, August 11, at St Gregory's Social Club, Blackpool Road, Preston, starting at 12.30pm.
The session will give former players, both male and female, the chance to find out how they can put something back into the game or make a career out of it.
The society is hoping potential female referees will attend as there is a shortage of referees in womens football.
PDRS president Jack Cunningham explained: "Football is now the most popular team game among women and girls and it is growing all the time.
"But because of this surge in interest we desperately need more female referees.
"This will be an ideal occasion for those interested to find out more about what it involves."
