THE Myerscough College motorsports team attended the 750 Motorclub's summer festival at Silverstone last weekend as part of the "Education in Motorsports" exhibition, taking both a student-built LOCOST, pictured, and the newly re-built Van Diemen.
Much of the weekend was spent talking to competitors and spectators about the cars and the courses, but there were also "display" laps of the circuit on both days, in which Myerscough cars were the only ones to take part flawlessly.
The attrition rate, particularly from the Formula Student cars displayed by the engineering universities, was massive. Tony Houghton, course tutor for Motorsports at Myerscough said: "The college received many accolades and much praise, both on a personal level and over the PA system when the cars were on the circuit.
"Many people also commented on how impressed they were that a college is running courses that are so in tune with the needs of the industry and to such a professional level".
Myerscough College offers Motorsports courses from First Diploma to HND level. For information contact Lance Butters or Tony Houghton on 01995 642222.
