A BARNOLDSWICK woman has put pen to paper and written a book about her dream to live on a farm.
Sue Broom, 49, moved to Barnoldswick 12 years ago from Norwich and during her time in West Craven has worked as a sheep and cattle farmer before looking after horses.
But her favourite moments are when she is out walking with her six-year-old dog Jack.
She has combined fact and fiction and her first book Hill Top Farm has recently gone on sale in Barnoldswick.
The stories, aimed at young readers with inquiring minds, feature Sue and Jack, as well as her relatives and many different animals and characters.
She said: "Everyone has dreams and mine would be to have a farm with animals which is what the book is based on.
"The title is not based on any of the local farms with that name. I just wrote about a village at the bottom of a hill with a farm on top so I called it Hill Top Farm. I bought a dictaphone and when I went out walking, or was working on the farm and ideas came to me, I recorded them.
" I wasn't so keen on writing a book at first because I didn't want people reading about my dreams because they are personal. But it was good when I got the first copy."
The book is already getting interest from abroad with copies sent to Sue's relatives in Spain and United States, and two customers bought copies to send to Italy and Canada.
There are five small stories in the book based on life at Hill Top Farm and the animals that live there. Sue, who lives with her mother in Colin Street, has already started work on a second book about the farm and hopes it will be completed within a year.
She said: "My nan always said people can take everything from you but they can never take your dreams and that is what the book is about."
Hill Top Farm is priced at £5.95 and available from Sarah's Tack Shop, in Rainhall Road, and the Gisburn Road Post Office in Barnoldswick.
