LANCASHIRE broadcaster Pattie Caldwell has been given just months to live by doctors.

After twice battling to beat breast cancer, Pattie has been told that the cancer has spread to her brain and she only has six months to live.

Pattie, 50, was born in Preston before moving to Rawtenstall but spent much of her childhood in Clitheroe before moving to Wilpshire in Blackburn.

She is a former Clitheroe Grammar pupil who went on to find fame as a journalist and TV presenter. Pattie's roles included a stint on the 1970s news show, Nationwide and Watchdog.

More recently Pattie could be found presenting shows for Channel 4, Channel 5 and BBC Radio 5 Live.

Eamonn O'Neal, executive producer of regional programmes at Granada said: "Pattie is one of the talented performers who helped to shape television in the North West.

"She recently made a welcome return to our studios last year as one of the presenters of ITV's Livetalk.

"Her down to earth style makes her a firm favourite with the viewers and her upbeat approach to work and life has always been an inspiration to us."

Pattie now lives in London.
