THE popular Chernoyble 10K road race, which had 200 entries, always attracts a high number of fun runners to help to swell the amount raised for charity. And a lack of local races last Sunday helped to draw some of the top local runners to the event at Preston.
Paul Muller kept up his recent good form to finish in first place in 33.06, and he was followed home by the ever improving Poulton joiner Steve Littler. Steve is now building up his mileage and, with a training plan devised by Wesham Road Runners' Alex Rowe and Barry Peatfield, hopes to improve on his marathon times. Wesham's Martin Bates was the third local to finish. He was in 12th position in a time of 37.10. Further back in the field, Louis Williams was making her comeback on the roads after recently giving birth to her third daughter, Emily. Wesham Road Runner Laura Baker was also pleased with her run. "Training with the club on a Monday night is paying dividends for me," she said.
