NORTH West businesses are slow to prepare for the implications of the euro.
A survey by HM Treasury shows that only 18 per cent of small and medium North West businesses questioned have prepared for the effects of the euro.
Yet 48 per cent of the companies surveyed have trading links with Europe or have a considered a strategy for dealing with the new currency
A spokesman for Lloyds TSB, commented: "I am concerned that there are still many businesses in the region who have not assessed the implications and opportunity the euro presents. It is not too late, but I urge them to act now."
He added: "There is a good deal of practical help and advice available through the banks and accountants and through Business Links."
