IT WAS a sight that filled Lions with pride, as their 39th annual Lions Carnival filled Blackpool Promenade with music and laughter on Sunday.
As the sun shone down, carnival queens and colourful floats set out along the Prom from the Pleasure Beach to North Pier at around 10.30am.
Afterwards a carnival queen contest and jazz band competition formed part of the post-procession afternoon fun at Princess Parade.
The event, organised by nine Lions clubs in the region, raised around £2750. The money, which was collected in buckets during the procession, will be split between the Air Ambulance based at Squires Gate, Blackpool and the Heart of Lancashire appeal for defibrillators.
Ken Ogden, vice-chairman of the carnival committee, said months of planning had paid off. He said: "The day went very well, there was a big parade and the weather was not bad at all. It was quite a good carnival!"
