A DRINK driver had hardly moved before he was stopped by police.
John Hayhurst, 21, of Gorse Grove, Helmshore, was moving so slowly that he was actually pulled over by an officer on foot patrol.
The policeman noticed the car in the centre of Bury shortly before midnight because it had no headlights on.
Nicola Docker, prosecuting, said that when the car pulled over the officer smelled alcohol and a roadside breath test proved positive.
Hayhurst was later found to have 60 microgrammes of alocohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
He told the court he had only travelled about 10 yards along Market Street, Bury, before he was stopped.
After pleading guilty to driving having consumed alcohol over the limit the case was adjourned for a driving record to be obtained.
Hayhurst will appear in court again on August 8.
