AFTER many years of campaigning for recognition all Suez veterans who served in the Canal Zone of Egypt during the Suez Emergency can now, unofficially, celebrate.
Indeed, the Suez crisis lasted from 1951 to 1954 and many would say it was hardly worth the fuss. However, justice has to be achieved and somehow that is the most important thing.
Nethertheless, it would not have been possible without some very special people who worked tirelessly to achieve this goal.
Many ordinary service veterans, top brass, MPs and cabinet ministers, as well as the media all contributed to our cause. But your support first gave our campaign for justice a real 'kick start' and continued up to fruition -- which we appreciate -- being understanding to our cause while others doubted our intentions.
