HAVING shopped in Leyland's new Tesco Extra supermarket at the weekend, I have to disagree with Sheila Unsworth (Citizen, July 25).
The store is by far the best supermarket in the area, providing customers with not just fruit, veg and food stuffs, but also clothes, gardening equipment and electrical goods, and more besides all under the one roof.
It's about time Leyland had a decent supermarket, especially in this work-crazy age, when people have to work long hours to make ends meet.
The last thing you need after a day at the office is a drive to Chorley or Preston to do the weekly shop!
Ever since Foodgiant shut nearly two years ago, Leylanders have been moaning about a new supermarket. Now we have one and some folk are still not happy! While there has been some criticism about the modern, airport-type building, I think it looks lovely -- lots of glass, light and modern -- after all, we are in the 21st century! And, if I'm not mistaken, Tesco has dolled up the ancient Tudor House in Towngate, restoring it to its former glory.
