I READ your story (Citizen, July 18) concerning proposed cuts by Wyre Council with growing concern.
Wyre councillors gave themselves a very substantial rise recently and now they say they are going to save the council tax payers money by cutting services. Who are they kidding?
Putting up the cost of car parking will only make more people park on streets. That will create more restrictions and so more traffic wardens who need paying. Not such a money maker after all.
When people need to go to the toilet they need somewhere to go to. A lot of people work on the streets so what are they supposed to do? I know vandals cause a lot of damage but what do they do if they catch them? Nothing.
As for cutting back on sea defence maintenance, it makes the mind boggle. I understand that the sea is rising, not receding as obviously some councillors seem to think.
The councillors were voted in by the public but, once in their palatial offices in Poulton, seem to forget the fact. Perhaps the man in the street will remind them at the next election.
