POLICE are warning elderly people in Pendle are being urged to stick to the main roads in a bid to cut the number of bag snatches in the area.

DS Derek Jones said there had recently been more crime targeting elderly people, particularly those taking short cuts off busy roads.

The latest victim was an 88-year-old woman who had been to collect her pension from Leeds Road, in Nelson, around 10.15am on Thursday.

The offender was described as a young Asian male, medium build, with short ,black hair, wearing a short, waist length, white coat, black trousers and black footwear.

Two men were seen acting suspiciously near the post office, less than 100 yards away, shortly before the woman was attacked.
