HAIRDRESSER and grandfather Manfred Sillitti was set to lose his prized moustache after 32 years today to help raise money for Rossendale Hospice.
And he was due to be joined in his close shave by three volunteers who agreed to have their hair removed for the good cause, which is set to benefit by more than £1,000.
Manfred, 54, is married to Carole, 50, who has had treatment for breast cancer and is undergoing radiotherapy at the Royal Preston Hospital.
He owns Talking Heads salon in Colne Road, Brierfield, which is where the shaves will take place.
Manfred's son-in-law Matthew Astbury, 30, of Burnley, friend Michelle McLean, in her early 30s of Brierfield, and Michael Horner, 48, of Brierfield, are also going to lose their locks.
Manfred, who comes originally from Sicily but has lived in Brierfield for 38 years, said: "We all go talking one night and the three of them volunteered to have their heads shaved."
He said everyone involved knew someone or had lost someone to cancer and Rossendale Hospice was picked to benefit because Carole attends the after care group.
