A COURSE to train people to help victims of crime has been provisionally booked to begin on September 19.
The course will be free to people of all ages and ethnic groups and will be run by Hyndburn and Rossendale Victim Support.
Volunteers are trained in understanding the emotional effects of crime on victims, how the criminal justice system operates and given practical information on crime prevention, insurance issues, compensation and other related matters.
Irene Maudsley, of Hyndburn and Rossendale Victim Support, said: "Volunteers need to be patient, non-judgemental, good listeners and enjoy meeting people.
"A good sense of humour helps."
Further opportunities would also be available for further training such as for more serious crimes.
For more information or an application form to enrol on the course, call 01254 871198.
