THE man once dubbed Britain's most dangerous criminal stepped into the unlikely setting of Rishton Cricket Club and said: "My violent days are over."

Ex-gang member Mad Frankie Fraser hit them for six at a £25-a-ticket gentlemen's evening in the Highfield Road clubhouse.

The infamous racketeer, who is now 78, described his hard times with the notorious Krays and the Richardson Torture Gang, which terrorised the East End in the 60s.

After serving 42 years inside, including a term as an inmate in Broadmoor, he also relished his new-found position as a pillar of British high society -- including an appearance in an advertising campaign for Campari.

The pensioned-off villain now spends most of his time as a regular on the lucrative after-dinner circuit with his tales of murder, firebombings and racketeering -- charging £800 a night.

Club chairman Alan Craven said: "We were sent a catalogue by an agency which handles after-dinner speakers. Mad Frankie seemed a bit different, and it was a sell-out."
