POLICE investigating how a two-year-old boy swallowed what is believed to be a dangerous substance are expecting the results of medical tests in the next few days.
The youngster was taken to hospital on Thursday evening after he came into contact with the substance at his home in Glenluce Crescent, on Blackburn's Shadsworth estate.
The boy's mother accompanied him to Blackburn Infirmary and was later interviewed by police. Officers searched her home but no arrests have been made.
The child returned home on Friday. The names of the child and his mother have not been released by police but residents on the estate said the house was occupied by Joanne Yates and her son Kyle.
Police are still awaiting the results of tests to determine exactly what the boy swallowed.
Detective Sergeant Sally Riley said: "There has been no arrest and the inquiry team led by Acting Detective Inspector Jim Elston is continuing the investigation."
