FANS at Blackburn Rovers and Burnley football club have cleaned up their act, according to new league tables on football-related crime.

The figures were released by the Home Office.

The show the number of football related-arrests at Ewood Park was 24 last year compared with 61 the previous season.

At Turf Moor there were 45 arrests compared with 83 the previous season, a statistic which bucked the Division One trend where total arrests were up to 979 compared with 818.

In the Premiership, there was an overall improvement in the fans' behaviour with just 1,311 arrests compared with 1,623 the season before.

The figures reveal a dramatic increase in the number of football supporters banned from attending matches.

In the 2000-2001 season 687 banning orders were made but that shot up to 1,150 last year.

Stoke City emerged as the club with the worst arrest record with 143.
