THE Magic Eye Appeal has a handed a major thank-you to Pleasington Golf Club.

The golfers ran an extra competition on the Club President Day for men and ladies and raised more than £500.

The winners and runners-up at Pleasington each received gold and silver medals and will go forward to the finals of the Magic Eye Golf Competition.

Pleasington Golf Club has kindly made the course available for the final at no cost, and to recognise this generosity, club president and local health trust chairman Ian Woolley presented the club with the Platinum Award -- the highest award which anybody can receive supporting the Magic Eye Appeal.

Mr Woolley President said: "I am delighted that over 1,600 golfers throughout East Lancashire have asked to support the Magic Eye Golf competition.

"This will mean we might make over £5,000 for this appeal from the competition alone.

"I am still waiting for replies confirming support of just a few other clubs. Nobody knows when the Magic Eye Cancer Scanner will be needed - but the sooner we have this scanner here in East Lancashire the better.

There is still time to enter provided clubs run their qualifying competition before September 23 for ladies and September 30 for men.
