LEIGH RMI boss Steve Waywell says Tony Ellis could be a Leigh RMI player by the end of the day.
Ellis looked set to retire last week despite Waywell's efforts to persuade the 37-year-old to play in a pre-season friendly, but it looks like the veteran of sixteen league seasons will put pen to paper this afternoon and could figure in the season's opener at Dagenham.
Meanwhile midfielders Phil Salt and Neil Fitzhenry have commited themselves to the Hilton Park club.
Salt is almost certain to figure in the starting eleven at Dagenham on Saturday with Ged Kielty suspended.
