PLANS have been unveiled for Clitheroe's old sorting office to become a restaurant.

But objectors to the scheme, in King Street, fear it will lead to increased congestion and more vandalism and rowdy behaviour in the town centre.

Members of Ribble Valley's planning and development committee will discuss the plan for the building, behind Clitheroe's post office.

It will be the third time they have approved a restaurant use for the sorting office, with one other application approved in the past for it to become a carpet showroom.

Councillors are being urged to approve the scheme with several conditions, including that it is not used for takeaway meals or open after midnight.
